Ashford Castle

Are you going to watch St Patricks parade in Dublin this year? If not, it will be very hard to find a better way to celebrate St Patricks than to enjoy the incredible 2-day package with Ashford Castle.

If you’re looking for a relaxing break, you’ll appreciate the specially created Emerald Phyto Body Treatment for 2 persons.

If you fancy cooking and enjoy learning something new, you’ll definitely enjoy the cookery demonstration with Ashford Castle’s chef: you will be taught the art of making Irish soda bread and will practice the “Guinness art” pouring.

St Patricks Day “Pot of Gold” treasure hunt and “Long Puck” hurling competition will entertain you if you’re into traditional St Patrick’s games, and making your wishes by the fountain at Ashford Castle will complete the experience.

Ashford Castle St Patricks package includes two nights of accommodation with traditional Irish dinner for two in the dungeons of Ashford Castle.

On the second day of your stay at Ashford Castle, you’ll take a mystic boat to the island of Inchagoill and visit St Patricks 5th century church “Templepatrick” and the most precious stone of Lugnad. You will hear the story of St Patrick explained on board by Patrick Luskin, historian and captain of the ship.

And to settle down after all the fun and thrill of the celebration, you’ll get to enjoy a glass of the Ashford Castle’s favourite Irish tipple “Arthurs Bellini” on the house while watching the “Quiet Man” movie.

Ashford Castle Falconry

Ashford Castle Falconry

Irish summer is almost here, and this means for you there’s a pretty good chance of catching some sunshine and enjoying some of the great activities while staying at Ashford Castle.

Ashford is a magnificent estate with many activities to suit any visitor, and Ireland’s school of falconry provides one of the best experiences you can think of.

Ireland’s School of Falconry at Ashford Castle

Perhaps one of the most unique and exciting activities available to you at Ashford is falconry. Ireland’s School of Falconry at Ashford is the first school of falconry in Ireland, established in 1999 by Deboragh & James Knight. Although falconry is almost 4000 years old (it dates to about 2,000 B.C), it is still practiced today in almost the same way.

The Falconry School is situated on the grounds of Ashford Castle among gorgeous woods. It’s about 5-10 minute walk from the castle.

Falconry lessons and training programs are available throughout a year, but spring and summer seasons are traditionally the most popular ones with falconry fans. If you’re new to the sport, this won’t be a problem: no experience is necessary, and lessons provided are aimed to be a great introduction for all ages and levels of experience.

As you go through your falconry lessons, you’ll be given useful information about birds of prey and taught how to release your own hawk or training the hawk to catch prey. You’re more than welcome to bring your camera along, many visitors have left with great photos and fond memories of the falconry school.
