Luxury Hotels section of this website has just been updated to include interactive map and a much better index of the websites chosen for you to enjoy.
New feature: drop-down hotel selector
In addition to this, there’s another great little feature added – a drop-down hotel selector right at the top of the sidebar on the right of each page. This means that you don’t have to scroll down to find a link to a castle hotel anymore – just click the selector and go directly to the castle information page:

Five Star Castle Hotels in Ireland
I’ve just updated the Five Star Castle Hotels page, it now looks like a much better index of the best hotels.
Interactive map is now also provided, so it should be really easy to find the next perfect holiday destination!
In the nearest future I’ll enable the special offers integration which will be giving you direct access to descriptions of all the latest deals available for castle hotels.

I’ve just updated the Interactive map of Castle Hotels in Ireland – it currently has 9 hotels and will be updated more as I confirm GPS coordinates of other castle hotels in Ireland.

If you represent one of the castle hotels, please use the contact form to confirm the GPS coordinates and submit any additional information on your hotel which you think visitors of Castle Hotel Ireland will benefit from.
More than just a map
In case you haven’t noticed yet, I’m not just updating the interactive castle hotels map. The same castle hotels appear on the main page of this website, and GPS coordinates I confirm for each hotel are also used to provide dynamic map on individual pages for each hotel.
Next step will probably be adding a way to generate driving directions, and the feature to follow will be ability to add local attractions for each hotel.

Solis Lough Eske Castle, a 17th century castle hotel just outside Donegal town, has recently been named the Irish Wedding Venue of the Year 2009.

Having opened just 2 years ago, Lough Eske Castle is a luxurious castle hotel in Donegal. Over the recent months, Lough Eske Castle has received global recognition and had been consistently voted winner of many prestigious titles both in Ireland and internationally.
Being the only five-star castle hotel in Donegal, Solis Lough Eske Castle has a total of 96 guest suites comprised of Deluxe Rooms, Solis Junior Suites, Garden Suites, and the Presidential Castle Suite.
Weddings at Lough Eske Castle
According to the recently published press release, Solis Lough Eske Castle hosted 64 weddings last year and has 85 wedding receptions already booked for 2010.
Andrew Turner, General Manager of Lough Eske Castle, recognizes the importance of weddings:
Weddings are a hugely important part of our overall business. We’ve invested heavily in creating a special wedding garden as well as installing a collection of 30 specially commissioned bronze sculptures in the castle grounds to ensure that we have the best possible setting, particularly for photographs.
We’re also registered as a Civil Ceremony venue and have a one wedding a day policy. And on the day after a wedding we treat the newly-weds to an Aromatherapy Associates Couples Massage in our award winning spa.
The hotel, now widely recognised as a fairytale wedding location, hosted 64 weddings last year
and has 85 wedding receptions already booked for this year.

Smithtown Castle
Smithtown Castle is a medieval castle in Kilshanny, Co. Clare, Ireland. This castle had been known as Ballynagowan Castle for the most part of its 500 years of history.
Staying at Smithtown Castle
Smithtown is a romantic castle where you can enjoy a self-catering break. Apart from a (relatively) large banqueting hall, there is also the Great Hall and Minstrel’s Gallery and three double bedroom chambers with luxurious furniture. There are four floors in the castle. Not only all the rooms are centrally heated but most of them have underfloor heating as well. Naturally, all the bedrooms are equipped with TV sets.
Depending on the time of year, it will cost you 1200-1800 euro to stay at Smithtown Castle for a week.
